Sustainable Consumption Institute Films
Last year we covered the Manchester launch of the SCI’s What’s Cooking report. Earlier this year we returned to the University of Manchester to make a series of online videos for the Sustainable Consumption Institute (SCI). Each SCI video features a different expert speaking about their specialist area of research.
The films were shot on two different half-days during the summer which turned out to be two of the hottest days of the year! Some were recorded at The Discovery Centre inside The Manchester Museum (now part of the University of Manchester) while the others were filmed inside one of the University classrooms.
Each of the experts needed to speak on camera for around three minutes. As academics they were well used to speaking extensively about their subjects. However, with the target duration of just a few minutes and only a short amount of time to film each person it was important to ensure that they were briefed in advance with a series of questions so that they could prepare concise answers which could edited together to form a continuous piece to camera.
What we grow, eat, drink and throw away all has an impact on ourselves and the world around us. In these videos for Food@Manchester experts explain the issues surrounding food which are facing us now and in the future.
